To Øl City Cola

To Øl has been around since 2010 when two friends decided to establish their own brewery. Their beverages are created in Svinninge, Denmark. located about 55 miles west of Copenhagen. Like many smaller breweries they produce some soft drinks to help round out their portfolio. City Cola and City Cola Light are organically made. 

I felt the carbonation level was too light and would like to see it increased. It has a nice taste. Initially it tastes a lot like Coca-Cola but then a stronger kola nut flavors rises toward the finish. At times I pick up a slight floral taste but then this disappears too quickly. Its maybe got a tinge of hibiscus and cardamom in that ending. There is no after taste. Overall, it's nice to drink.

Remmarlöv Gårdsbryggeri Stickedricka med riktiga hallon

Discovered in the grocery store, this is a raspberry (hallon) soda from the Remmarlöv Farm Brewery. The brewery is a family run, ecologically sustainable farm in Skåne county of Sweden. While they primarily make a range of different beers, they have some non-alcoholic options such as this soda. 

The aroma is earthy and evokes green leaves in my mind. It has a fruity smell but doesn't immediately shout 'raspberry'. It has a "thicker" feel on the tongue which is decidedly raspberry flavored and quite tart. I think it tastes truer to the actual fruit than other mainstream fruit flavored sodas, possible because it says it's made from real raspberries. I think it could stand to have heavier levels of carbonation. It definitely feels like something from a brewery and could be mistaken for a raspberry flavored lager. It's a nice beverage and I'd recommend trying it if you're able. 

Fanta Crimson Cherry

Another interesting find on a hunt in Sweden. Based on the graphic design I think this may be the same as 'Crimson Sour Cherry' in other regions? I was only able to find it in one-liter bottles. It has the wonderful smell of an apple cider and is a deep, blood-red color, nearly purple. It has an apple flavor that carries a tartness in the finish. Cherry has a brief flash of appearance in the finish. It tastes better than I expected and probably more seasonally appropriate for the autumn than the Fanta Forest Berries Zero.
